Lorde Comes out Against Photoshopped Image
BuzzFeed has released an article concerning a recently released photo of the pop singer Lorde. The image she tweeted was a side-by-side comparison she created with a Photoshopped image of herself on one side and an unedited photo from the same event on the other side. She came across the Photoshopped image online and was angered that someone would change what she looked like. She doesn’t believe girls should be seeing pictures like that and think they should look similar. Her tweet read, “i [sic] find this curious – two photos from today, one edited so my skin is perfect and one real. remember flaws are ok :-).”
The photo soon went viral and had everyone talking. This was a great move on her part because it goes against many of society’s preconceived ideals about image. This photo and tweet utilize pathos in the way that readers will find a relation to this and feel so strongly that they will share it. This is an issue where that is one of the most important rhetorical concepts. Overall this tweet made a huge wave in social media in the best way.
