Wikipedia Edit for Education in Mexico
I found editing Wikipedia fairly easy after looking through the tutorial. When you first take a took at the tutorial page, it appears quite overwhelming and seems as though it will take some coding skill. In reality, it takes no coding skill whatsoever to make a contribution. Mexican Education does not host many English Wikipedia pages, so I decided to make my edit on the main page, “Education in Mexico.” The page is accurate and informing and does a good job at staying away from bias. Throughout the semester, I have been operating on a bias that Mexican Education needs more support and attention. The Wiki page, however, tries to stay neutral and present only facts. I chose to make an addition to the ‘High School’ section last week because I feel the retention rates deserve to be mentioned and do not present a ridiculous bias. Furthermore, I also added a quick fact in the history section regarding the astronomical growth of Mexican Education from 1950 to today. It was only a one or two sentence edit, but I believe it is an imperative part of the history of Mexican Education. I did not expect a removal of this edit because it presents zero bias, it is true, and simple. After a few days, I checked the page and saw that my edits stuck!
I’m hoping the edits continue to stick because they are important aspects of Mexican Education that people need to be aware of.
