Medical Cannabis in the United States Wikipedia Edit
A lot of the Wikipedia articles pertaining to my issue are protected articles meaning that I am unable to edit them, so I had to do some searching to find an article I was able to edit. After some searching, I came across the article: Medical Cannabis in the United States. This article lists the details of the laws pertaining to medical marijuana in each state. When looking at this article, I noticed that Pennsylvania is not listed in it. Knowing that there are bills related to the issue currently being dealt with by state legislation, I decided to add this information to the article.
In the talk section there was a topic related to Pennsylvania stating the lack of info on the PA cannabis laws. However, there was little information here available to help me with my edit. The only thing related to Pennsylvania in the talk section involved the picture of the map, which is not what I had planned to edit.
I found an article in the Post-Gazette that talks about the bill that was passed by the Senate and is currently awaiting approval in the House. I decided to use this source to create a Pennsylvania section in this article containing a citation to this article. This article talked about the bill that was just recently passed in the state senate that would legalize medical marijuana for certain patients if also passed by the house. I used the info from the article about what patients and conditions the bill would cover for medical marijuana and the date when the senate passed it in my edit.
At first, the markup seemed a little challenging since it isn’t like anything I’ve ever seen before, however it turned out not to be too difficult. By looking at the other sections in the article and the help section I was able to create the section and reference pretty easily.
Over 24 hours later I went back to the Medical Cannabis in the United States Wikipedia page and my edit is still there. I’m glad to see that the administrators on Wikipedia viewed my contributions as helpful to the article and maybe it will even help someone out one day.
