Best Friends Animal Society Wikipedia Page
I edited a Wikipedia page about the Best Friends Animal Society. I researched the issue by going on their website, where they not only had a whole section on their sanctuary but also on the different environments within it. It was very enjoyable to be able to add information to Wikipedia and feel like I contributed something, especially being able to share it with other people who are interested in the same topics.
I edited the section about their animal sanctuary, adding details about the various animals and how the sanctuary acts as a safe house for them after being rescued. Before I edited it there was some information on the location of the sanctuary, but it was very general. There was not a lot about the motivation behind the sanctuary or why it is a very important part of the healing process. There was an interesting tidbit about a movie filmed there, but that it not what it should be known for. A sanctuary should be known for how well they treat their animals, so I wanted to make that very clear.

The most challenging part for me was figuring out the citations. It took a few tries of going back and forth and adding in text, but after a few tries I finally was successful. It has been about ten minutes since I edited the page and my text is still on there, which makes me feel like the information is valuable. What this taught me is not always to avoid Wikipedia, because you cannot just put anything on there. I am hopeful that my edit will stick, but even if it doesn’t, it is good to know that I got more information.
