While I do not know how successful the sales of the Concussion kit have been, the tactics used to promote the product certainly seem effective.
The pathos and ethos appeals are especially useful in this campaign. While there are some logos appeals, they are not as emphasized as the two other techniques.
One of the main issues that combats further promotion of this campaign is how lightly concussions are treated in many situations. Football players are exposed to the possibility of getting a concussion every practice and every game and concussions tend to get worse if ignored. Even so, players of any age hesitate to sit out a game or longer simply due to a concussion – injuries that cant be seen are treated as if they are less severe, but Mom Cindy Zordich obviously knows that this is not the case.
This campaign serves not only to sell its product, but it seems focused more on informing the audience about the dangers of concussions. This campaign does not aim to create a large profit, rather it aims to make people more knowledgeable about the treatment, cause, and potential harms related to concussions. I think the most convincing appeal used to get this idea across is the ethos spread throughout the information. Mom and Creator Zordich is someone who the audience will believe and trust. She knows a lot about football and concussions. One point she makes is, ““If she sat her kid out, and her husband let him sit out, then I guess we’re not insane if we let our child sit out,” implying that if her kids, collegiate athletes, know their health and wellness is more important than the game, other people will agree.
