I have been further researching issues related to hyper- and hypothyroid diseases. I have found numerous resources including a woman with whom my mother has become friends. She had thyroid cancer but is extremely knowledgeable about the different tests which should be performed on anyone who suspects any type of thyroid issue. This woman’s name is Donna and she has suggested to me different facebook groups and websites which benefit my cause. These websites and pages include Hypothyroid Mom, Thyroid Sexy, Mary Shoman, Thyroid Patient Advocate, Thyroid Change and Butterfly Bandits. These are all pages run by women who have suffered or still suffer with thyroid issues. They are all first-hand accounts which adds credibility and an emotional factor to my cause. They will be beneficial because they are not only informative but also insightful. They speak a lot about the struggles of life when misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all. While the clinical perspectives and facts are important, the detection of these diseases relies mostly on the information passed on from sufferer to sufferer, not from doctor to patient. First-hand accounts will be the main focus of my website. Clinical information will just be supplemental.
