When I think of remixing media, I think of memes. Across social media on any given day you can find vines, youtube videos,\u00a0meme generators, gifs, fanart, remixes of media, and remixes of those remixes. Usually created for the purpose of humor, art, or to make a point, these bits of media typically pay no attention to copyright law or restriction. They don’t have to. Content like this\u00a0is shared so fast and so broadly that it would be impossible to blame any individual. Once something is on the internet, it is there forever.<\/p>\n
\/r\/youtubehaiku is a subreddit (a sub board of a popular forum) that specializes in short (30 seconds or less) videos\u00a0that are poetic in nature. Many are\u00a0mashups of other pieces of media from tv, movies, music, news, photos, etc. Basically, anything is fair game for these small clips. Here are a few examples from the past 24 hours or so. By the time you read this, \/r\/youtubehaiku will contain completely different content than what I am viewing now. Most likely, it will even include remixes of some of the videos which I\u00a0am currently watching.<\/p>\n
