Everyone stop what you\u2019re doing (unless you\u2019re reading this post, in that case you can keep going) because I have the hottest digital media resource of 2016 coming at you live from the coolest class blog around. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is a media resource unlike any other, and it is coming to us straight from the news media giant that is NPR. The news site published a training guide so that lovers of the media and all things informative and creative have the ability to learn from the masters of breaking the news of the world today. The link to the training guide will be at the bottom, but I\u2019ll first share with you my favorite part of the site: the Visual tab. <\/span><\/p>\n

I love the visual tab because it gives some great instruction into how we can add some additional content that is remarkable and beautiful while being informative and adding to the story. My favorite tab was the one about taking great photos because I think that it is a true feat when photos tell stories in themselves. The article gives links to examples of talented individuals doing stellar photojournalism across the regions and stories of the world, and breaks down some of the principles behind what makes them pieces of work that stand above the rest. The three principles that it really focuses on are Composition, Content and Light. According to the guide these are some of the tenants of photography that NPR photographers try to live by when documenting events on all occasions. If it is good enough for them, I think that it is something we can all consider adopting into our everyday practices of content creation. <\/span><\/p>\n
