As I have been working on the animation project I have found that it is much harder than I thought it was going to be. I have never worked with After Effects before and it has definitely been a learning experience for me. The layout of the workspace is completely different from Photoshop, which is a program I am more familiar with, and it was difficult to move from one to the other. I had trouble in the beginning figuring out how to move around the workspace and what each space did. I have become a bit more comfortable with it now that I have used the program more.
I remember watching the kinetic typography videos in class and thinking that I could do what they did with their animation. I was going to have all these fancy effects, camera angles, 3D text and the like; however, when I actually went to work on it I found myself more confused than not. I tried to work with the camera and I completely failed at it. I went through so many tutorials and I tried to follow along but somewhere along the way I just ended up getting lost and even more frustrated. So I decided to leave this out of my animation project but I hope to work with it some more in the future.
Overall, I have to say that I am glad to have gotten the opportunity to work with After Effects because I do not think that it is something I would have touched voluntarily. I think that if I had tried this on my own I would have given up long before now. Now that I know it is not as bad as it seems when you first open the program, I hope to work with it more.
