My mom sends me about 4 messages a day on Facebook of different links and articles and pictures. She happened to send me this link a couple of days ago. It is about 4 artists who use photoshop to change a landscape into something surreal. The way these 4 artists take an ordinarily beautiful landscape and turn it into something so different and unimaginable in reality, is just amazing to me. Andric Ljubodrag specifically caught my attention with is attention to detail in each one of his edited photographs. There was a link to his website and so I clicked on it. I scrolled through photograph after photograph and each one was amazingly thought out and executed. His pieces of work under Commissioned 1 were particularly interesting. The way in which he was able to create a completely new scene and new reality is so creative and amazing.
Looking through all 4 artists photographs really made me understand how photoshop can elevate a photograph from something ordinary to something extraordinary. I am interested to learn more about photoshop and how to manipulate photos into something that you don’t see every day. Photoshop can become almost cathartic if you understand and know what it is you want to change or create. But this also made me understand that photoshop can be taken too far. There is such a thing as editing a photo too much to where it looks too fake. It is easy to get carried away in making changes to improve a photograph and to change it into something bad. I think you really need to know what you want to do before you go in and start making changes or else you might not recognize what you started with. I am sure it took these 4 artists time to learn how to limit the amount of changes you make and because of that, they were able to make incredible photographs.

I think these images are extremely captivating and interesting. It is fascinating that this surrealism is so digital. Technology is slowly taking over and it is seeping into our art. It could be argued that it takes a different talent to create these images in Photoshop, as opposed to drawing them because the light values need to add up and like you said, it is easy to lose the original photo in the edit. I used to think it would be easier to create images in a program because you are not physically drawing it, but I was definitely wrong. Photoshop can be very frustrating and to create such beautiful images that provoke emotions and a little confusion is an art form. I read through the article and noticed that Andric is a self-taught photographer whose big-name clients are AT&T and Corona. Talk about a talented dude.

These photos are amazing! Thanks for sharing! I especially like how he makes the edits look so realistic. You are right, most of the times when people try to edit a picture so much to make it look different it can look very fake and unrealistic. I think that these artists are experts in PhotoShop because their work is pretty much flawless. I would love to learn how this is done. I know one thing I struggle with is texture in Photoshop. If i am doing an edit and have to add on to a photo to try to make it look real the texture is always wrong and gives me away as an amateur. I will definitely look into these artists for more tips and tricks next time i decide to work with Photoshop
