For my website, I decided to share more about Pitt’s Quidditch team. From the site, you’ll be able to learn more about the real-life version of the sport along with seeing some of the players.

I had a hard time when it came to coming up with a design for my html site. I found the content part the easiest, but for some reason I blanked on the design.
For my site, I knew I wanted to talk about Pitt’s Quidditch team. It’s something from Pitt that people have heard about but don’t know much of. Being a part of the team, I thought this would make it easier to explain some of the concepts and show who is actually on the team. On the main page, it briefly talks about Q.C. Pitt as a whole. Then I have two other pages: one explaining how to play, and the other for “meeting” some players. I wanted to have an about page so that people can actually learn about some of the rules and how the sport actually works instead of what the movies show you. Then for the “Meet the Players” page, I think it would be nice to show off some players. You never know if you might see them around campus.
I wanted to follow the Pitt theme with gold and blue, but those are tough colors to use when you want to make something actually look good. I decided to stick with these colors anyway because I believed that nothing else would make sense for a Pitt-related site. Although yellow can be loud, I was able to find a more subdued tone for the background. Pitt’s navy blue was used for majority of the text
I also struggled with the layout. I didn’t know how I could make it flow nicely. The easiest way for me to break it up was to have short paragraphs or bullets separated by pictures. I used a good amount of pictures on my site because I think it’s important for people to actually see the sport and the people who play it (we’re nerdy but we’re also athletic). I attempted to do the constraint for the pages so that they weren’t so spread out, but it wasn’t working for me. I didn’t necessarily want the site to look like it came from the 90’s.
Overall, it’s not the best-looking site, but I’ve learned a lot about HTML and CSS which I think will greatly benefit me in the future.
