I think one of the most interesting examples of remixed media is the work done by YouTube channel MelodySheep. Headed by John Boswell, MelodySheep creates song remixes out of non-musical media (at least, non-musical in the conventional sense). For example, after Steve Irwin’s death, MelodySheep released a tribute song comprised of a number of Irwin’s iconic quotes and appearances from his career, all streamlined into a piece that was touching, poetic, and heartwarming. It fascinates me that MelodySheep can turn just about anything into music with enough clever splicing and autotune (which I suppose makes you think about what music really is), and how each song is able to represent its original inspiration as both a fitting homage and a novel, standalone creation.
