I am a senior majoring in Health Services. After I graduate I hope to land a job in my field; I have a plan to go to graduate school after a couple of years of work but that might change. I’ve always wanted to work in the healthcare field but I never wanted to go to med school, which is how I learned about health services/ health administration. I am currently volunteering at the VA hospital in Oakland in the audiology department. Volunteering has given me great experience in learning how to manage my time and allowed me the opportunity to interact with people who are working in the field, that I hope to work in as well one day. I am a very shy and introverted person; I am usually not the first person to start the conversation with a total stranger but once I get to know you I start to open up more. In fact, I am often referred to as the “bubbly” one in my group of friends. I am passionate about music, books (mostly fiction and I’m definitely a sucker for romance) and watching TV shows. If I had a choice between staying at home and reading a book/watching Netflix or going out, ninety percent of the time I would choose to stay at home. I could literally spend hours upon hours reading a book or watching shows. I have also recently gotten into anime and manga, thanks to some of my friends, and it has completely taken over my life. I spent the entire summer, when I wasn’t volunteering, just going from anime to anime and manga to manga.
I am really excited to be in this class because I took a Photoshop class in high school and I loved it, so I am eager to learn about the other digital media programs. I like the fact that this class gives us the opportunity to be creative and allows us to use that creativity to make something new.
